Use and classification of joint forgings

A joint forging is a part used to join pipes, equipment, or structural components, usually in the industrial sector. They have important functions and a wide range of applications.

The main uses of joint forging include the following aspects:

Connecting pipes: Joint forgings are used to connect different parts of the pipe system, such as connecting pipes of different lengths and different diameters, so that the pipe system can achieve continuous flow and ensure the tightness of the connection.

Connecting equipment: Joint forgings can connect different kinds of equipment, such as connecting pumps, valves, pressure vessels, etc., so that they can work together and ensure the normal operation of the entire system.

Connecting structural parts: Joint forgings are also widely used in construction, Bridges, machinery manufacturing and other fields. They are used to connect structural components, such as connecting beams, columns, plates, etc., to enhance the stability and load-bearing capacity of the overall structure.

Joint forgings can be divided into several categories according to their shape and use. Common joint forgings are classified as follows:

Elbows and bends: Used to change the Angle of pipe flow. According to the Angle of the elbow, it can be divided into 45 degrees elbow, 90 degrees elbow and so on.

Pipe fitting (elbow pipe) : used to change the flow of pipes and connect pipes of different diameters. According to the curvature radius of the pipe fitting, it can be divided into long radius elbow pipe and short radius elbow pipe.

Pipe joints (flanges) : Used to connect pipes to valves, equipment or other pipes. According to the different connection methods, it can be divided into welded flange, threaded flange, clamping flange and so on.

Caps and plugs: Used to close the ends of pipes or repair damaged parts of pipes.

Sleeve and fastener: Used to connect two parts of a pipe, usually by threaded connection or pressure fastening.

In addition to the above common joint forgings, there are some special shape joint forgings, such as socket welding joints, cross joints, reducer joints, etc., their use and classification according to the specific engineering needs.
